Gibraltar Wealth Management was founded in 2003 by James E. Bickley after more than 30 years in the financial services industry. He saw a need for an advisory firm that offered the flexibility to help people with specific needs and to help those needing comprehensive wealth management and financial services.

Gibraltar is an independent, Registered Investment Advisor serving individuals, families, retirees, professionals, executives, managers, and small-business owners in the Philadelphia and Southeastern Pennsylvania area as well as throughout the United States. Our team includes:

James E. Bickley

President and Managing Member

Jim began his financial services career in 1976 at AMA Advisors Inc. as a registered representative and retirement planning consultant. In the early 1980s, he co-founded Rutherford Financial Corp., parent company to Rutherford, Brown & Catherwood, Inc. (formerly Rutherford & Company, Inc.), a securities broker/dealer as well as Walnut Asset Management, Inc., a registered investment adviser, where he served as president and chief executive officer.

In 1999, Jim founded Bickley & Associates, Inc., a consulting firm providing guidance to companies in their formative and developmental stages, and co-founded Trident Advisors, Inc., a registered investment adviser. Jim served as chairman of Trident until 2003, working with a select group of clients and expanding the scope of services offered by the firm. With his extensive experience in serving the needs of investors on multiple levels, Jim took his commitment to personalized service to new heights when he founded Gibraltar Wealth Management, LLC, in 2003, as a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA).

Jim was affiliated with Cresap, Inc., a broker/dealer registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) until August 2015. Up to that point he had maintained the securities licenses of General Securities Representative, General Securities Principal, NASAA Uniform Investment Adviser, Financial and Operations Principal, Registered Municipal Securities Principal, and Registered Options Principal.

From 2002 to 2004, Jim served a three-year term as a member of the Philadelphia District Committee of the National Association of Securities Dealers (now known as FINRA). He continued his involvement with FINRA as a member of the Consultative Committee post his term with the District Committee.

Jim earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drexel University in 1977 and received the designation of Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania in 1988. He has served on the boards of directors of multiple private companies and is active in many community service activities.

William H. Miller

Chief Investment Officer and Principal

As Chief Investment Officer and Principal of Gibraltar Wealth Management, Bill has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, with expertise in asset allocation, portfolio construction and manager selection.  Early in his career, he was an equity analyst with various investment firms, including Janney Montgomery Scott, Legg Mason and Rutherford, Brown & Catherwood, Inc.

From 1995 to 1997, Bill was an assistant portfolio manager at Delaware Management in Philadelphia where his team oversaw DeCAP and trend funds. As senior portfolio manager at Putnam Investments in Boston from 1997 to 1999, he co-managed an all-capitalization equity strategy and also co-designed and launched a small capitalization equity strategy.  Bill held two positions with Nationwide Financial from 1999 to 2008—interim CIO and senior portfolio manager.  While there, he relocated the firm’s investment department from Ohio to Pennsylvania; established and supervised equity trading, research and portfolio management; built a quantitative research group; and managed more than $16 billion in the firm’s flagship equity fund as well as its asset allocation funds.

Bill spent eight years as chief investment officer at Brinker Capital where he introduced a multi-asset class investment philosophy, growing the firm’s assets under management by $10 billion.  He also added quantitative analysis to the investment department, and created a trading department. From 2016 to 2018, Bill was the head of investments for (k)RPG in Gaithersburg, Maryland, concentrating on retirement planning and personal wealth management.

Bill received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Trinity College in 1981.

James D. Dodderidge

Senior Portfolio Manager/Director of Technical & Quantitative Analysis

As Senior Portfolio Manager/Director of Technical & Quantitative Analysis, Jamie has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. His associations at Pershing, Merrill Lynch and Dearden Maguire & Weaver were the foundation to his understanding of the use of technical analysis.   For more than ten years prior to joining Gibraltar, Jamie was a portfolio manager and registered representative at Cresap, Inc. where he utilized both fundamental and quantitative analysis, together with the underlying principles of risk management and portfolio construction to provide guidance to a select group of clients.  Jamie’s expanded use of the theory of Relative Strength became the foundation to advising clients on the selection of investment options within their IRA and 401K retirement plan accounts.

At Gibraltar, Jamie’s expertise has been instrumental in the development of multiple investment strategies with a focus on dividend sustainability and growth.  His extensive portfolio management experience is an enhancement to Gibraltar’s focus on expansive and interactive client relationships.  Jamie enjoys writing and frequently provides market commentary focusing on current market and investment trends. 

Jamie is an avid golfer and true fan of all sports with the game of baseball being a favorite and in which he coached little league baseball for over 15 years.  He is a court tennis player and has served on the board of the United States Court Tennis Association for over 20 years.  Jamie received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Rollins College in 1979 and has called the Philadelphia area home for the last 41 years. 

Douglas R. Hopkins

Senior Portfolio Manager

Doug’s 30 plus years in the financial services industry extends back to 1982 marketing for Vanguard Investment Group Funds.  Over his career Doug has developed expertise in portfolio construction, portfolio holdings, investment objectives, asset allocation, and knowledge of various management group investment styles.  As a General Securities Representative, General Securities Principal, and Investment Advisor Representative, Doug has harnessed his experiences and directed his focus to providing portfolio management guidance to address the needs of a select group of clients that include corporations, retirement accounts, trusts, and individuals.  While with Rittenhouse Financial Inc. (Rittenhouse Trust), Janney Montgomery Scott and Coordinated Capital Securities, Inc. he developed a core fundamental cash flow analysis of portfolio holdings, taking into consideration top down and technical approaches to allocation decisions, along with a myriad of characteristics prudent for investors.  Doug has provided personalized financial management with an emphasis on service to his clients and brings this same valued depth of investment discipline to Gibraltar Wealth Management.   

Doug received a BA degree from University of Delaware in 1982.

Donna M. Woytek

Vice President/Client Relationship Manager

Donna brings more than 30 years of financial services experience to Gibraltar Wealth Management. Prior to joining Gibraltar, Donna was vice president of client services with the investment advisory firm Trident Advisors, Inc. Prior to that she spent 11 years at Rutherford, Brown & Catherwood, Inc., working as a sales associate in both the retail and investment advisory areas. Today, Donna’s focus is on client relationship management as well as directing the administration of Gibraltar’s Relative Strength Advisory Service and as a Registered Investment Advisor. She was affiliated with Cresap, Inc. as a registered representative until September 2017 and held FINRA licenses of General Securities Representative, General Securities Principal and NASAA Uniform Investment Adviser.

Donna earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Palm Beach Community College and pursued a degree in Political Science at Florida State University.  Whether reviewing client portfolios, preparing performance analyses and comparisons, attending client meetings, or addressing individual client issues, Donna greets each client relationship with the enthusiastic professionalism that provides a reassuring level of comfort to our clients.

Kerry Shissler

Administrative Services

Kerry began her career at the insurance consulting firm of Boothby & Associates, Inc. as an administrative assistant.  She continued refining her administrative and organizational proficiencies while working in the coporate finance department of Legg Mason before joining Rutherford, Brown & Catherwood, Inc. (RBC) in 1993.  At RBC she was initially the assistant to the department head of the private investment banking department.  As a result of hard work and commitment, Kerry ultimately took on the responsiblities that led her to a position as the executive assistant to the senior management team of the parent company, Rutherford Financial Corporation. Today Kerry's energies are directed to ensuring that the business systems and general administrative services are operating efficiently making her an invaluable member of our Gibraltar Wealth Management team and a true contributor to the success of the company.
